The City Council has adhered to the Catalunya Film Commission with the objective of promoting the municipality and its various landscape and heritage activities with a filming space for audiovisual productions.
The City Council is committed to promoting the patrimonial, natural and cultural activities of the municipality and donating to conèixer the vila arreu of the territory.
In this line, the consistori has recently adhered to the ACTalunya Film Commission, a service promoted by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia at the disposal of the audiovisual sector and the municipalities of the country - among them, Aitona - with the objective of promote and facilitate the transport to the territory; stimulate and consolidate the film and audiovisual industry; and assist in the coordination and realization of filming in locations with Aitona.
Aitona is the first municipality in Segrià after Lleida and represents its directorate, which is the reference repository for many localizers, producers and audiovisual professionals in Catalonia and the world's music industry who are interested in filming in Catalonia. Rosa Pujol, mayor of Aitona, assures that the collaboration with the Catalunya Film Commission “"It allows us to improve and strengthen the direct communication channels between audiovisual producers and facilitate the production of film production in the municipality. Aitona has something to show, a unique natural environment and a rich and diverse historical heritage."”.
In this sense, Aitona has been among the many directors of different audiovisual shoots; among them, the film “Segon Origen!” by Carles Porta, based on the novel by Manuel de Pedrolo; various scenes from the sobbing film “Alcarràs”, by Carla Simón; or different music video clips.
Aitona, an idyllic municipality for audiovisual films
Aitona is coneguda arreu for the quality of the sweet fruit that emanates from the privileged seva terra. It also has an exceptional wealth of heritage: the church of Sant Antolí - built on the stones of the Castell dels Montcada a Aitona -, the chapel of Sant Gaietà, and the hermitage of Carratalà are good examples.
Disposa d'espais de secà, com la Serra Brisa, with Robert Capa going to immortalize the republican offensive darrera of 1938; and the Erms d'Aitona, with desert landscapes. Special mention was made of Genó's jaciment, where the first indications of beer production at the European level are being discovered. On the other hand, irrigated agriculture offers impressive landscapes in the flowering season, fruits in the summer and a gradient of green and gray colors in the late afternoon.
